Air Force One turns back after “electrical issue”, Trump switches plane to continue Davos trip

US President Donald Trump’s Air Force One returned safely to Joint Base Andrews near Washington on Tuesday night after a minor electrical issue was detected shortly after takeoff. The aircraft was heading to Switzerland for the World Economic Forum when the crew decided to turn back as a precaution.

White House officials said the decision was taken out of an abundance of caution after the issue was identified soon after departure. The aircraft landed without incident, and no injuries or further complications were reported.

According to accounts from those onboard, lights in the press cabin briefly went out after takeoff. About half an hour into the flight, passengers were informed that the aircraft would be returning to Washington, though no immediate explanation was provided at the time.

It was later confirmed that President Trump would switch to another aircraft to continue his journey. He subsequently departed for Davos to attend the World Economic Forum as scheduled.

Air safety incidents involving senior US leaders are rare but have occurred in the past. The current Air Force One aircraft have been in service for decades and are equipped with advanced security and communication systems designed to ensure presidential safety.
